Hello future NHMS Parents,
Students will be receiving a Microsoft Forms Survey to make course selections for next year at NHMS. In the message sent to students, from your students elementary staff, will have directions to complete the survey.
The survey must be completed by March 15, 2026.
The survey will help me start to build schedules for next year. We can not guarantee you will be able to have all of your UA options since space is limited. But will try to get at least the 1st selection on their schedule.
Below is the course offerings we are going to be able to offer next year:
Art 6 In this course, we’ll explore various techniques, materials, and ways to create beautiful visual compositions. You’ll discover the magic of lines, shapes, textures, and forms through interesting drawings. We’ll dive into the colorful world of watercolors and tempera paints, where you’ll learn about color theory and experiment with brushstrokes. You will create eye-catching posters using different lettering styles and get your hands busy modeling three-dimensional forms. As budding art critics, we’ll discuss and evaluate artworks, using art vocabulary to express our thoughts. Join us on this colorful journey, where creativity knows no bounds!
Computer Science 6 This course is a fun, visual coding playground where you will create games, illustrate stories, and bring characters to life through animation with simple, colorful blocks of drag-and-drop code. In here, you’re only a few clicks away from becoming the author and illustrator of your own animated book, the designer of a digital game, or the developer of the next viral web app.
Engineering 6 Some wonder, “What will they come up with next,” while engineers are busy answering this question. This course follows the same design process inventors and innovators use to influence and improve the ways we live and experience life. In this course, you will learn to communicate unique solutions to everyday challenges with architectural sketches and turn those sketches into 3D models using design software, like professional engineers!
General Music 6 In General Music Class, we get to play the keyboard and learn about how music impacts our lives. We also have fun learning to play the guitar and discovering the history of American Music and World Cultures. Besides playing the keyboard and guitar, we get to enjoy musical theater activities too. Additionally, we learn about different music-related careers, including being a Composer, using music notation technology. Activities vary from sixth to eighth grade so all the above will not be covered in every 10-week class.
Interactive Media 6 Ready for an epic journey into the world of interactive media? In this class, you will learn the 3 P’s of media creation, pre-production, production, and post-production, to create eye-catching visuals. We'll explore and unlock the secrets of great design, whether for a logo, website, advertisement, or video. Get ready to become a digital content creator by learning step-by-step how to plan, create, and perfect your very own masterpieces.
